Sihanoukville – Paradise Beaches and Contrasts of Modern Cambodia
After Cambodia’s difficult historical memories, Sihanoukville presents a completely different face of the country. This popular resort on the Gulf of Thailand is famous for its white sand beaches, turquoise waters and exotic atmosphere. The city owes its name to former King Norodom Sihanouk, who contributed to its development in the 1960s.
Today, visitors can relax on Otres or Serendipity beaches, sample fresh seafood, and enjoy spectacular sunsets to the sound of local music. In recent years, Sihanoukville has also become a gambling hub, with numerous casinos built primarily for Chinese tourists.
