NUWEIBA – SINAI’S HIDDEN GEM BETWEEN TABA AND SHARM EL SHEIKH
Nestled along the stunning Red Sea coast, Nuweiba offers one of Sinai Peninsula’s most breathtaking landscapes. This tranquil town sits in a picturesque bay where golden desert mountains dramatically meet turquoise waters. During our Middle East adventure, we only spent two nights here en route to Israel – barely enough time to dip our toes in the water, but long enough to fall for its raw beauty.

MY FIRST SCUBA DIVING EXPERIENCE
Nuweiba marked a personal milestone – my first ever scuba diving attempt! Under careful instructor supervision, I discovered the magical underwater world. While our dive site lacked spectacular coral reefs (better snorkeling awaits in Sharm’s famous beaches), the experience ignited my passion for underwater exploration.
This was my first diving adventure. I saw the most beautiful coral reef at another popular Red Sea destination, Marsa Alam. The following link will take you to more information on the scuba diving and snorkeling in Marsa Alam : https://en.orbhike.net/egypt_coral_reef/
Why Try Snorkeling in Nuweiba?
- Beginner-friendly – Calm waters perfect for first-timers
- Vibrant marine life – Spot colorful fish without deep diving
- Affordable – Requires minimal equipment investment
- Freedom – Explore at your own pace without heavy gear
- Accessibility – Great option for non-swimmers with life vests

Red Sea Diving Curiosities
- The Red Sea contains over 1,200 fish species – 10% found nowhere else
- Coral reefs here grow about 1cm yearly – some are thousands of years old
- Visibility often exceeds 30m (100ft) – among the world’s clearest waters
- Dolphins frequent Nuweiba’s waters, especially near Coral Island
- The Red Sea’s unique salinity creates perfect buoyancy conditions
While Nuweiba served as just a stopover for us, its untamed beauty and my first diving experience left lasting memories. Next time, I’ll certainly allocate more days to properly explore its underwater wonders and breathtaking desert-meets-sea landscapes.
