Reconsider Choosing Morocco as a Tourist Destination
Having visited around 60 countries worldwide, I’ve developed some reflections on choosing tourist destinations. Here are my subjective but experience-based tips regarding Morocco:
🗺️ Comparison with Other Destinations
- Morocco vs Jordan: Among Arab countries, I definitely recommend Jordan more. Not only the famous Petra but also other attractions offer higher quality tourist experiences than their Moroccan counterparts
- Sea vs Ocean: While the beach in Agadir offers 10 km of sandy coastline, the Red Sea amazes with breathtaking coral reefs

🏜️ Desert Attractions
- In my opinion, Erg Chebbi is overrated – it’s not worth traveling hundreds of kilometers to see it
- The real gems of Morocco are in the Atlas Mountains with the Tizi n’Tichka pass and the Todra and Dades gorges
🌸 When to Go?
- Spring is the perfect time to admire the rose-covered Dades Valley
- Todra Gorge (Gorges de Todgha Aghbalou N Todra) makes an incredible impression any time of the year

🚗 How to Travel?
- To fully enjoy the charms of Morocco, avoid organized tours
- Rent a car and explore the country independently
- Organized tours in Morocco focus mainly on souvenir shops where local products are sold at astronomical prices

💭 Summary
After visiting so many countries, I believe Morocco is an overrated destination offering relatively little compared to other directions. If you’re looking for authentic experiences in the Arab world, consider other options – in my opinion, Jordan offers much richer and more satisfying travel experiences.
