We dedicated another day to exploring the surroundings of the capital. We woke up at 6:00 in the morning and, after a modest breakfast, took a taxi for 200 rupees to the bus station. The bus journey to Bhaktapur (40 rupees) took about an hour. At this early hour, the traffic was still relatively smooth. The entrance fee to the historic city exceeds all bounds of good taste. The ticket costs 1800 rupees. We explore the beautiful historic city at a leisurely pace. The narrow streets are not as crowded as their counterparts in Kathmandu. I started to regret not staying overnight in Bhaktapur. It has a calmness and tranquility that is absent in Kathmandu. Despite the very high entrance fee, I recommend one day trip, or even staying in Bhaktapur for one night.
