Pokhara is the second-largest city in Nepal, with over 300,000 residents. Local tourists come to Pokhara to paddle a boat on the beautiful Phewa Lake. From the boat or the lake’s shore, you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding Himalayas. I recommend taking a stroll along the lake promenade. Along the promenade, there are restaurants and cafes where you can satisfy your hunger and thirst while admiring the lake. Very relaxing. You can take a cable car or hike to the viewpoint – Sarangot. I recommend it, but only in clear weather. In Pokhara, there are many shops with trekking equipment. Those heading to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek can make final purchases before hitting the trail. Pokhara is primarily a starting point for the ABC trek. You can reach Pokhara from Kathmandu by bus. Although the cost is low, around 3000 NPR, covering the 200 km takes over 8 hours. It’s worth spending more, about 100 USD (13,300 NPR), and flying by plane, taking only 30 minutes. From the airport to the city, you can take a taxi for 1000 NPR or a bus (with a transfer) for 70 NRP. We spent only two days in Pokhara. The city left positive impressions on me. A very calm atmosphere, excellent food at the You and Me restaurant (marked on the map), and a relaxing stroll along the lake. Unfortunately, there was also a bit of disappointment because it rained all day on the second day, and we gave up on going to the Sarangot viewpoint.
