Turda salt mine

Don’t miss Gorge Canyon when you visit Turda salt mines and Cluj Napoca. Half a day trekking to the picturesque canyon is very nice and worth to pay small entrance fee. There are 3 routes available:

The mine is open from 9 am to 5 pm (last entry 4 pm) and cost 60 lei. The mine is full of people, try to avoid weekends and it is a good idea to start visiting at 2 pm The free of charge parking lot is located 200 m from the entrance.

There are 2 entrances to the mine. It is better to go in and out the same entrance, otherwise you have to walk about 2 km. Truda mine is nice but the Polish salt mine Wieliczka is more interesting.

 Turda Gorge Canyon

Don’t miss Gorge Canyon when you visit Turda salt mines and Cluj Napoca. Half a day trekking to the picturesque canyon is very nice and worth to pay small entrance fee. There are 3 routes available:

  • the easiest one. It takes 2 to 3 hours walking at the bottom of the canyon. The route is flat and easy, but the views are very lovely.
  • the second option is more demanding. Sport or trekking shoes are recommended. The first part is at the bottom of the canyon. At the end of the canyon turn right to the very steep route the top of the mountain. A fantastic view compensates the effort. The hike takes about 4 hours.
  • the third option is very similar to the second one, but turn left at the end of the canyon.

I recommend to go to Gorge Canyon in the morning and Turda mine salt in the afternoon.
